Question on Dutch Clips

What is the advantage to using Dutch Clips over just putting the other end of the strap through the loop. That's what I've done so far and it seems to work pretty well.

I use cinch buckles instead of whoopie slings. If I didn't use dutch clips (or carabiners) I would have to unthread the buckles everytime I set up or took down the hammock. In that case, they are quicker.

That use makes sense, but for whoopies with a toggle, I'm not sure.

Fabric to fabric pulling is generally discouraged for safety reasons and increase wear, in our use it is a minor issue that most never face IMO.

As stated the Dutch Clip is for when there isn't an easy disconnection point. The cinch Buckle is the best example and really the product that I had in mind when I made it. It was before whoopies. If I use a whoopee sling suspension I don't use a Dutch Clip.

Ahhhhh...thanks for the enlightenment Dutch. I use whoopies and I was also wondering how the Dutch Clip would make things better.

Imo, if the clips are placed at the right spot on the tree, where the strap is running thru and not pulling against the clip it will hold you, i have used one before and i am over the 350 lb mark, if you really like the clip but dont feel safe you can allways double them up. 2 per tree and it will hold your whole family, you are not going to break a dutch clip very easily, they are very well made

For me...Dutch clips are faster, with less "fiddle factor", than threading.

I'm with Dutch on this.. I love my Dutch Clips, but only use them on strap suspension
