DynaGlide Ridgeline and Guy Line Question

So I'm looking at buying some zing-it or some DynaGlide, but I'm unsure of which to get, and I'd like to not have to purchase both. So here is what I need it for.....

    1. I made my wife a hammock and she stole my adjustable ridge line... so I need to replace that on my hammock.

    2. I would like to replace my tarp ridge line and guy lines

    3. I would like to replace my bear bag line.

My concerns for the zing-it are in the use for the hammock ridge line. I weigh about 270lbs...Would it be okay for me?

My concerns for the DynaGlide are trying to tie knots with it. How well does it hold knots? I generally use half hitches, tautline hitches, and prussiks.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Zing-It is just fine for a ridgeline if you don't go all structural on it. That is, the line has no slack under tension, but isn't guitar-string tight.

Both Zing-It and Dynaglide are slippery, but the coating on Dynaglide is a little more slippery IMO. I've used Zing-It for guylines with a tautline OK. Dynaglide is too much cord for me to use it outside of a suspension.

In my opinion it would be preferable to get both. The Zing-it is good for your guy lines because its a little less slippery, smaller and more supple than Dynaglide plus Dynaglide would be overkill.

For your Ridgeline, it safer to have a stronger line like Dynaglide IMO for the times where you may not have optimal set up conditions and the tension on the RL ends up more than you'd like.

For bear bag line, the Dynaglide is good not because of its strength but because it slides better on tree bark and even though its only a little larger in diametre it is easier on the hands when hoisting.

    Just my two cents.

If you get them in the same diametre, there is no difference except colour IIRC.

Just color. Zing It is yellow and Lash It is grey. Both come in 1.75mm and 2.2mm sizes.

dynaglide is a whole lot easier to splice, etc. I do agree that it is overkill in a lot of ways. I really like 1.75 zing it. I can put a taut hitch in that real quick and effectively. I use it for tarp ridgelines, guy lines, etc. Easy to untangle. I have seen both zing it and dynaglide used as structural ridge lines in a hammock.
