Thanks for this thread. I had the same question and, as usual, you all nailed it!

Sounds like I need to order some zing it. Does it come in a reflective option?
I've used nylon, but notice it stretches. I'm now using amsteel, which is overkill, but I can never have to much amsteel.

I use a locked brummel to make an eye. Leave the tag end plain and tie off with what I learned years ago from an old paddler as a canoe hitch. Known around here as a Truckers Hitch. The trick is in the slip knot loop and passing the tag end through that twice before pulling it tight. The double pass will hold the line taught while you secure it.

Sorry guys, this newbie doesn't want to add to the headache, but I have seen some ridgelines that were orange in colour. Does anybody know what ridgelines come in orange?

Well the Dutch team, Keith, was great on explaining a ridgeline, the components , what line to use, etc, etc. thanks Keith and Dutch! They quoted me an entire ridgeline setup to get me going. Thanks Again!

    Google "locked brummel".

I use 3mm utility cord for my tarp ridgeline and 2mm for my guyouts. What can I say, I got it really cheap. It doesn't stretch either, at least not in my experience. I may one day switch to the zing it that everyone else uses, but I have ways to keep my cord from tangling...
