3/4 or Full Length UQ Which is Best?

Personally I love having the option of removing my feet from the foot box of my "topquilt" and feeling the cool temperature of the uninsulated area.

Also, I put my segment of CCF inside the foot box of the sleeping bag. I'm sure lots of people do this, but it works so well I thought I'd mention it

Pricewise, I opted for a couple of 2/3 UQs. I'll see how it goes in the winter and may have to buy an extra Christmas present!

You can combine the two 2/3 UQs to make one long one in winter...or stack them.

I vote for a partial length.

I've used them exclusively, from the east coast to the west coast and a whole bunch of stops in-between. From summer to the -20s(f) they have kept me warm and toasty. Full length quilts (for me) are luxurious, but totally unnecessary. Then again, I'm pretty much a furnace when I sleep, so there's that.

Lots of wealth tied up here, and space to store it.

I will have a shortie. But, center the full length TQ in the center of a larger cotton slip-cover, and you have an excellent down comforter for a single and almost a full size bed, with wings to tuck in.

Turn off the furnace. Open the window in mid-winter. Sleeping indoors on a bed can almost be comfortable.

I just spoke with my friend Spike. Since he too is a donkey (albeit not from the swamp

), I thought his opinion might be of worth. He also says to go with the partial length.

Only UQ I've used so far is a 3 season crowsnest and I love it. The 3/4 covers me from neck to knee pits. In the fetal position it becomes almost full legnth for me. Its kept me warm so far and even using without foot pad in the 30s I've been fine, in the 20s my feet get a bit cold.

Though I've yet tried the full length, I don't see myself moving toward it. Even if its much better,for weight and pack realestate I don't know if I want to find out, haha.

I started with a partial UQ, now have a full length 3-season Incubator. Love it. No pad, no fiddling around, no problem. It covers me from head to toe whatever way I sleep. One quilt that takes me from spring to fall.
