I hope to be able to go.
Please post directions from Rte 81, include where we should park, which trails to take, fees, etc. Any special regulations?
I hiked the area north of there (Old Orchard shelter), have maps but haven't been to the Grayson Highlands.
The area is beautiful.
Thanx

Hey Guys! I will be there and am bringing my good friend Double B. I have a HH but have only used it a few times. Im looking forward to seeing all of your setups and learning alot.
I have absolutely NO cold weather gear for my hammock, but hopefully will be able to afford a JRB three season set before the hike. Anyone have any extra gear to get Double B in the air?
Thanks for inviting me and having me on your site.

If "Double B" means me, this is the first I've heard of it
I'm going too, as far as I know. I'll have some room in my Jeep, so anybody let me know!

unless someone offers something better (& it probably wouldn`t be hard to do<G>) i can let double b use my 1st insulated hammock.
it`s synthetic insulation has lost some of it`s loft, but it still has mabey 1.5" loft.
it would do great w/ the help of an underquilt or an SPE i believe.
i also have an SPEx4 w/ both the 1/8" & the 1/4" pads for the sleeves that could be used. ...tim
I too will something make and joy in it's making
so far i`ve just thought i would put weight in the back of my 2-wheel drive toyota pick-up, make sure i have new tires before then, & go, but if the roads are like they were one feb a few years back, i might be better off riding w/ some one in 4-wheel drive. ..tim

My car is in no way going to make it in any form of snow. Is there a place close where I can park and maybe ride up the rest of the way with someone else if needed?
I can bring my HH is someone needs it. They are still going to have to use their pad and sleeping bag. It also needs a tarp.
Is that too much to ask? Girls with frikkin' lasers on their heads?
