Greetings from the Panhandle

Hello all. This past weekend I had my first hang, and am completely thrilled with it. The trip was two nights, 15.3 miles. It ended WAY too soon and left me wanting more. Actually on day two we did our nine miles before noon. If not for a shoe issue on one of the cohorts, I suspect we would have extended our plans ( which I suspect were cut back because they were unsure of the beginner, me.)

Anyway, We have a longer and more challenging trip scheduled for the weekend after next, and then a week long 65 mile stretch on the AT in Sept. I look forward to "hanging" with all of you, picking your brains, and learning what I can.

I am from Florida and have virtually no experience hiking, but am working on getting my gear together. Thanks in advance for showing me the ropes( and knots).

There are a couple of group hangs already being planned for both near-term and long-term here in FL.

The weekend of 8/10-13, there's the Hotter'N'Heck Hang out at Ichetucknee Springs, in Ft. White.

A little longer out (but one that you won't want to miss) is the 3rd Annual FL Hang. We had a blast last year, despite it getting down into the twenties on Saturday night.
