I have made plenty of hammock but I will be making my first tablecloth hammock this weekend. Are you guys doing a gathered end or a channeled end on the things?

Three of them, all gathered. You can be hanging 15 minutes after the mail comes.
That said, I'll sew an end channel on the next one just to compare. I've done two in ripstop with channels.
I've done one so far (will do more in the future for friends) and it was one of the huge 90x156 polyester ones. I sewed a channel in both ends so that I could do the mini-spreader on each end. It's my nightly sleeper and I was shooting for big and extra comfy (I succeeded )
For a regular hammock I think gathered is just fine if you aren't doing spreader bars.

I forgot about the mini spreader, I've been meaning to try that. I ordered three tablecloths one in pink for my 4 year old daughter and the other two are for beater hammocks. maybe I'll gather end one and channel end the other. Then I can add a mini spreader to the channel end one.
I have one gathered end and working on a channeled one, the TC are perfect for a hammocks.

I have done them both ways, and I have not noticed a huge difference in the lay, even though I have tried. Just from my experience, the whipping can be offset just a bit to alleviate calf pressure, but it is really negligible, to me anyway. The sewn channel looks more pro, though. I am gonna stick with the whipped ends, just cause I am lazy, and I can crank more out. Since CAVEMAN first turned me on to these in December, I have made like 15 whipped and 3 sewn. Either way, you will be happy.

I've done all of mine with gathered ends.
I can't imagine a 156x90 with a spreader bar. That's just crazy!
