I'm going camping with some friends tomorrow morning and I decided a couple of weeks ago that I wanted to give hanging a shot so I picked up a Skeeter Beater UL to try it out. Went on a retreat last weekend and used it as a test run since if I failed, there were cabins I could use. It was great, although I wasn't equipped for what 60 feels like in a hammock vs. a tent. Extra clothes got me through it.
I know it's not specifically a KY hang but there is a group forming up right now for a hang at Big South Fork on the TN side.

Ya, I was under the mistaken belief that this hammock camping was supposed to be cheap.
I've got a pretty good sleeping bag that I will try to use as a top quilt. I'm going to try to make it through this winter with a pad and some extra clothes until I can save up the money for a nice quilt set.
That's too bad about the BSF trip. Work just gets in the way of all the fun.
Not from Kentucky but im 5 minutes from Paducah KY
