observation : gutter nails are long and have a sharp end. Used as marlin spike on suspensions they are often directing their business end horizontally into the air at face level. Same is true of any ordinary tent stake.

looks great! I made a set the very same with a peg I found when I was camping. They look and work great. I drilled a small hole in one end to attach a small line to my webbing so I dont lose them .

I use a small carabiner in my marlin spike hitch. It won't take your eye out, and you can hang stuff from it.

Also, if you are wanting to use a cut aluminum arrow shaft for a toggle, you may be able to get them for free. When an archery shop custom cuts its arrows there is usually 3 to 5 inches remaining. These are thrown out most of the time. You might pick up some toggles-to-be for free or near to it.

I used a tent pole repair tube/sleeve that I found at REI...

    Tent stake toggle

I use a cheap aluminum tent peg that has been cut, drilled, and attached to my webbing (got the idea from Frawg). Attachment nylon line similar in size to dental floss. Peg is 2.5".
The trees are drawing me near, I've got to find out why?

If you have any ground dweller friends that have a spare or broken tent pole or yourself?) you can use that, just cut to size needed and buff the edges and your set.

DUH !!! i have extra busted and bent aluminum and carbon arrows. if anyone uses carbon you should use a high speed fine toothed saw or better yet a cutoff wheel or dremmel tool. a normal saw may work but will probably just splinter the arrow.

You can get them for free from me.

Just PM me and I'll put a couple of 3" pieces in the mail them to ya! They fit in a letter sized envelope and take one first class stamp.
