Just got my RayWay Quilt

I just got my Ray Way Quilt, with the alpine upgrade. WOO HOO!!!!

I am way too tired right now to make any sense of the directions, but I figure after a 24 hr nap, I may be able to toss it together fairly easily.

I got the alpine upgrade & two color option (forest green & bright ORANGE!).
I also ordered two stuff sacks. UM, the stuff sacks are HUGE!!! Like it says on the web site, they are as big as the RayWay pack. I'll still use both, one for the RW quilt & the other for my hammock AND patomic underquilt.

I AM SO EXCITED!! I just wish I could sew it RIGHT NOW!

BUT if I try now, well, it won't be pretty and will likely be covered with (my) blood.

I'll keep y'all posted.

Except for the actual quilting, it is done. It took me 4 hrs: 2.5 hrs to actually sew it, 1.5 hrs sewing it wrong & having to take it apart & start over. I like it, alot! I havn't weighed it yet, its in my car so I can do the quilting at work tomorrow, maybe.

Me too!!!

I'll have to get HE to do the honers, I don't have the right camera.

Hint for those who will be doing a RayWay quilt. My mistake was to try (as in failed miserably) to sew it with the insulation side up, YOU MUST SEW WITH THE INSULATION DOWN. It says so in the directions, but somebody didn't notice that. YOU MUST SEW WITH THE INSULATION DOWN. to me this was counter intuitive, but that is what you MUST do. The directions also say go slow, OH YES, take your time.

Can you elaborate on this a little bit? I made a synthetic quilt and sewed the insulation to the liner with the insulation side up and did not have any problems. What happened when you did that? I have another synthetic insulation project (pullover) in my future, so I am very curious.

I was afraid to try the RW quilt. I didnt wanna blow the cash on the item, then not be able to do the sewing. I can do a rolled hem (badly) but the quilt making seemed to advanced.

yes please, I have one to finish on the workbench, seems like you lay the insulation on the two 'covers" then pull it through the gap left at the foot. I may have older instructions and will have to take a look. Thanks for posting this
