Bug Net Similar to WB Bug Net, but with Nanoseeum?

Hey all,

I don't have any sewing skills, and am looking to buy a Bug Net similar to the WB Traveler Bug Net, with a zipper and tapered ends, but with Nanoseeum material instead of regular noseeum. Weight is a big concern for me, so I have a hard time wanting to buy the WB Bug Net based on my gram weenie principles

Does anyone know where to get a lighter bug net in similar style to the Warbonnet, but with even lighter materials, either pre-made or custom?

Looking forward to the responses, as I've had bad luck finding anything lighter, with the exception of the bug socks and quarterweights.

Fair enough - I had a feeling that was the case.

You know, the more I look at your bug socks, the more I like them. That low weight is sucking me in. Ever consider selling them, or know of someone who does?

Pappa Smurf is making them. I'm thinking of getting some of that no-see-um that moski used. I think I could get my weight to stay under 3 ounces with that stuff. It is about half the weight of thru-hiker nanoseeum.

What's this really light noseeum that moski is using?

He says it is 14gr/m2 which is about 0.425oz/yd2 and it is pretty sturdy, probably better than tulle. Thru-hiker nanoseeum is ~0.71oz/yd2 based on the stuff I got and tried (bugnet Ver 2.0) This is what his ended up looking like:


It looks pretty darn sweet. I sent the seller a message asking for more info on his net.

Okay - the netting arrived today. Didn't unroll and measure the dimensions, just weighed it: 15.20 oz. Which works out to 0.9 oz/sq yd if the advertised size is accurate.

I think that Thru Hiker nano-seeum worked out to 0.8 or 0.7 oz/sq yd.

Also, in comparing this stuff to nano-seeum, the holes are about twice as big.

So I don't really really think the stuff I got which was stated to be noseeum, is really noseeum. It is mosquito netting, but definitely not noseeum. That is both a pro and a con. If you don't need noseeum, then this stuff allows more air to circulate. If you need noseeum, then this stuff will not work in my opinion.

I have contacted the ebay seller about returning and since it is not as advertised, I have asked him to return the purchase price and the S&H and the return shipping. We'll see.
