    Any southern NE hangers here?

    Hey all,

I just joined the forum today. I have yet to try hammock camping, but I think I can already see why you folks tend to be a bit...enthusiastic about it. On a recent trip to Washington State, I was struck by the fact that many long switchback sections on the PCT seemed to have very few camping options aside from hanging ABOVE the trail.

Anyway, back here in New England I do a good amount of UL backpacking with a tarptent. Any forum members in MA, RI etc. that are active with hammock camping in this area? I'd love to try a hammock and welcome any and all advice.

    Thanks!

====> WELCOME to the forums! Yep we have a pretty good group of hangers here in NE .... recently had a hang in lower Vermont which included hangers from PA, NJ, NH, and VT, too! With the Fall coming, I expect that there will be more activity (cooler, less bugs, better fishing, nicer pics, etc).

Best advice I can give is READ, READ, READ .... check all the links here. Watch Shug's videos, and see JustJeff's Pages. Look at all the vendor's pages, too. Ask any question at any time! This is one great group of folks!

Keep an eye on the Trip Planning threads, and I hope to hang with ya someday!

Hey Flatlander: I just joined the forum myself and I've finally decided to try hammocking.
