So many people underestimate the rocks and roots on the trail and how much they can mess you up.
Knee breakers and ankle twisters for sure.
Hope the knee is doing better and looking forward to more of your Keck Trek.

A really rocky trail that snowbank on the west side. The Kek is not so but tough to get a rhythm because there are so many blow-downs. Obstacle course for sure.

I am proud that I made good decisions on this solo and stayed mentally in it. Thanks a bunch.

Well thanks for the night watch. Knee is raring to go again soon.

Better colors than I thought. I love the smell of fall leave so much. It was glory.

That cheese was truly good. My wife's sister got in Wisconsin at a cheese shop. I'll try to find out where.

Hope the knee felt better after a well deserved session of hammock therapy. Can hardly wait for the next installment.
Enjoy yourself out there. You must have a good phone)))))

But we had _canoe_ maps, with considerably less resolution than yours. Did I mention we were young and foolish?

Roughly in the middle of the trail we met up with a guy who had been very lost for 3 days, did not know where he was until we showed up, and was happy to have us share our food and the trail out.
So you understand and know. it is twisty up there but good to get the map and compass out and really need it.

It is good to be off plan and have to deal with it. The mental game needs testing from time to time.

I'm sure that most of us would admit to being "Misplaced" on the trail at some point. It is very easy to do. On my last hike I was "Misplaced" for about 10 minutes. I stopped to film a beaver lodge and when I started hiking again I went the wrong way.

Love the fall colours. Can hardly wait for part 2, (if you make it out )
Thanks Bluefin. I am off to check out your new video soonest.

I'm thinking this is the trail I read about a while back that was less traveled for a spell until a hiking club took intrest in it 20 or so years ago. This noob needs paint strips and big signs to find his way in the woods so the Kek might be something I work up to. Looking forward to part 2 Shug.

Just like Daniel Boone, "I've never been lost in the woods, but I will admit to be confused for several weeks." An experienced hiker like yourself does the correct thing before leaving the house - leaving your route with loved ones. As a back-up I always leave a copy with those who really want me to return - the people I owe money to.

Enjoying the videos, please keep them coming.

Let me join in on the parade of thank yous, and letting you know you've been missed. My daughter asked what I was watching and I told her Shug was back! She said "Cool!"

Thanks for highlighting the real life experiences that we all go through out on the trail ... If I had my way, we'd be watching you in Hi Def for an hour at a time on some discovery type channel!

Great video Shug. I enjoyed vicariously traveling with you. I remember the first time canoeing on a multi-day loop in the BWCA and feeling some primordial satisfaction finding myself on the map after getting off track.
