    Show Me Your Groundcloth

Or at least tell me the dimensions of the ground cloth.

The past few trips I have been using the floor of an old tent I have sacrificed for parts... but it is HUGE: 6'x6'

So I know I don't need that much, so show me yours.

    Oooops
    sorry

This needs to be in General forum, not the DIY

    Tyvek. 7' x 3' - 4.125 oz

I feel it should be at least as long as you are tall in the unfortunate case you need to go to ground.

I am 6'2'' so I just rounded up for the extra piece of mind. I could probably shave off 6 inches.

Can't show what I don't have! I use my rain poncho as a multipurpose utility tarp (cover fire wood, wrap my pack, etc.) If that is what you mean by a ground tarp, then I guess I do have one, and it is about 4 x 7.

I use a "Just Jeffs" pack cover my wife made me. It does the same as mentioned above covers the pack, firewood, gear hammock, water hauler and ground cloth.

A piece of Tyvek large enough to do double duty as a top cover ain't no bad thing.

I use a very small piece 12" by 12" piece of tyvek or plastic sheet from my tent ground cloth. Just big enough to put my pack down on under my hammock and step out onto when going in and out of the hammock. I will also use it as a backing when leaning up against the trees with my sit pad underneath, keep wood dry at night under my hammock
Sometimes I like to hike and think, And sometimes I just like to hike.

Hiking is'ent about waiting for the storm to pass its about learning to hike in the rain.

Still using the tyvek envelope that Mac sent my Molly Mac pack in. Removed seams, flatted, free.
