    CLOSED: SpinnUL group buy

For those of you who have wanted to make your own SpinnUL tarp, but could not justify paying more for the fabric than a complete tarp would cost, here is your chance:

Warbonnetguy has agreed to provide the DIYers on this forum with his SpinnUL at $15/yard. The fabric is 59" wide and weighs between 0.95 and 1.0 oz/yd^2. To make this happen, we will have to get at least 50 yards. Brandon will ship the fabric to me, I will cut it and send it out. The final price per yard is going to be a bit over $15/yd, depending on the shipping cost from Brandon to me. I will charge actual shipping cost for each package.

    Anybody interested?

This would be great for making the end doors for any tarp also.

Grey in color I am assuming?

Is this just good for tarps? I was thinking of making a DIY topquilt. Would it be good for that? Or should I just use the 1.1oz ripstop I've got.

    Kagitora,

This material would probably not be good for a quilt unless you were looking to make a vapor barrier style for cold weather.

I wouldn't use it for a quilt, but it does have plenty of uses. I use a bishop bag made of Spinn for my Traveler and I use mostly Spinn stuff sacks on long hikes. I've also made a pack cover with it, but I almost never take it because of my love for the Packas. Bet you could make a Packa out of it. Oooooo, that would be nice and light.

    So far, we have

    TZBrown: 3 yards
    HappyCamper: tbd
    Schneiderlein: 16 yards

    Total: 19 yards

Need two or three more tarp makers.

Actually, head over to the Warbonnet website, Brandon has made some doors kits from SpinnUL and found that they don't work as well as Silnylon does.

    Cheers

Oh, who am I'm I kidding. I like to modify stuff, but I hate sewing projects. Which is weird because my mother loved to sew. Apparently I didn't get that gene. Please take me off of this deal. I'd order it then just end up selling it to someone else here! Even though I'm not going to take part, thanks for organizing the group buy, S.
