    Blackbird pad insertion

Can anyone direct me to pics or a video of how the Blackbird double "accepts" a pad? I am really leaning toward this model but can't find anything to help close the deal.

    Thanks

    Pics of double layer

Here are some pictures I took for another member. Hope they help

    Here's where the opening starts

Here is where the layers are sewn in the middle of the hammock

The pillow shows where the layers are sewn in the middle and the openings above and below. The pad simply slip into either opening

I usually put my pad in rolled up and then unroll it (upside down) so the concave shape is down (convex up) like an archway. Have found this to be easier than trying to feed it in (which is also very easy).

by her head there is some loose fabric. this is loose because the top and bottom layer are open there for pad insertion.

Thanks for the pics, odds. That really helped a lot, just seeing how the BB is put together!

At MarshLaw303 - that is a cool perspective, and the contented look tell all. I assume the pad pocket runs under the foot pocket? Thanks for the reply.

At XoxorZ - I did the same with my blue pad in a borrowed ENO, but it kept traveling on me. That's why I have such interest in the pocket, and I just bought a Thermarest toughskin second hand the other day. Trying to put it together in my head before the cash goes out!

We would be one step closer to world peace, if everyone slept in a hammock..

How about that... I had no idea that the design of the double layers had been changed. Mine is definitely different from that one, but I have one of the fairly early Blackbirds.

Yes, it does. I usually stick the corner of my big thin pad in the corner of the foot pocket. Or I fold up my gossamer gear thinlight if I'm using a 3/4 underquilt and stick the corner of the pad also in the corner of the foot pocket.

the top opening is a bit small for pad insertion, it's mainly so you can grab the corner of the pad to yank on it while you're laying on it, or to access the air valve while laying on it. the bottom opening is much larger and is the one meant for pad insertion
