With a 4 season tarp w doors closed would I need a weather shield to protect my UQ from fog?

I doubt it too, but fog can be insidious. The few times I've been out in it I was surprised at how it went under my tarp and got everything wet. Fog doesn't follow the vertical rules of most precipitation - it goes under your tarp, over your hammock. I'm gonna experiment some more next time we get some fog in Jersey.
Fog goes where it wants to.
Plan on drying your gear in the sun if possible.
My body warmth kept my UQ dry in a night cloud on Hawksbill in the Linville Gorge. Weathershield would for sure help though.

IF you could get the fog to condense on the DWR nylon UQP that might reduce the amount the UQ would be exposed to.
It still wouldn't help the TQ.... Maybe a sock or something draped over the ridgeline?
In heavy fog I would think a hammock sock would be better.
Pitched to the ground, no. But yes if your tarp is up off the ground. If you go with the HG Cuben I would suggest a breathable 2qZq UQP for calIfornia costal fog. I was out at PT Rayes about a month ago and the fog was so thick you could swear it was raining. It was worse because it got everywhere.
Good luck in choosing.

looks like 2QZQ is closed for a bit so will have to make my own weather shield
Will I also need a top shield? Or would I be better off making a hammock sock?

hammock socks can be great - just be careful to ensure you're not condensing inside the sock, soaking everything.
i can't speak to the why's, but its happened to me-- guess the conditions weren't just right for the sock, my bodies output, etc.
i've had the best luck with the 2QZQ UQP for most conditions 15 - 40F. if i were doing deep cold, i'd use a hammock sock no doubt. above 40, i generally don't worry about it.
synthetic might be an option if you're always in fog? at todd lake this summer in the cascades... my quilt was soaked from about 9pm - until the sun came out again.
a lot of factors.
