Most excellent video Grizz ... love the effects, music and the opening especially.

So ... these aren't listed on 2QZQ's page though ... unless I've missed something???

We didn't get them on the web site yet. 2Q will do that soon. We will start to take orders, but won't be making any beaks until January.

Learned this trick from shug. Release the video early in the morning so that first views are often taken with hot beverage. I think he has a brother-in-law in the keyboard industry.

Really great idea, and it's great how it can work with any tarp! Extremely simple to use.

2Q and especially ZQ- top notch sewing!
I compare her stitching with mine, and remind myself to stick with the day job. Her work is professional, literally.

my first go at the beak was wide enough at both ends to get dual use as a gear hammock. This is an awkward shape for that....but there are lots of clever folks around here and maybe someone will hit on a second use.

Your hammock model did an outstanding job!

One question though...where can I get a knit hat with such a dashing red ball tassel?
JP likes being in my videos. He's a ham, not sure where he gets that from On the hat, maybe Moski will get you one for Christmas. I got it years ago on a business trip to Stockholm.

Did you stick with your same dimensions as in your diy tutorial/original grizz beak post? Or did things get modified a little along the way?
The 2Q/ZQ version is appreciably larger along the bottom. My SOB pre-finished length from bottom door corner to bottom edge stake-out was 52". They're taken the whole 64" width of the silnylon roll for that edge. It's a good touch. Doesn't add much weight but was just what was needed to stretch and cover one side of the HH Asymmetric Diamond tarp. Their ridgeline is 13", the SOB was 12". Height is the same.

I sent beta-tester MedicineMan out on a section hike with version one. He came back wanting to pack a second one too. On the one hand I really like the possibility of complete enclosure. On the other hand, the times when coverage on three sides is not enough....At Mt Rodgers last year I had my JRB 11'x10' staked out the way shown in the video, but no beak, open at one end. The knife edge was pointed into the wind, and my oh my we had wind one night. Wind went whistling by without pushing in my walls and without bothering me in my cozy sil cave.

Busted! But I figured it was clearly in the public domain and could be used.

    2Q! A customer!

I'm a fan of trying to point the end of the tarp into the wind, to create the smallest profile for it. With 3 sided coverage, a bit of luck and a little work at the pitch you can protect yourself even if one end is open.

But if you're risk averse, as I often am, then only two will do. That said, you may need to pitch one of the beaks under the tarp and fasten with grip clips, so as to keep the wind from getting up between the beak and the tarp it lays on.

Excellent work, nice to know they work with a diamond tarp. My wife will appreciate the option for privacy when desired without having to have a huge tarp.
