Tarp Flyz vs Stingerz

I am thinking of going dutch but need help to decide between the tarp flyz and the stingerz. I've watched the "hello everybody, my name is dutch" videos but I would like to know the opinion of members who have used both types of hooks. What are the advantages and disadvantages? Thank you!

The biggest thing I see is if you want to run a continous ridgeline then I would use a tarp fly and dutch hook. If you just want to run ridgelines off the the ends of the tarp then I would use stingers becuase the clip on so easily.

I went Full Dutch on my SuperFly and have two stingers clipped onto 6" continuous loops larksheaded onto the ridgeline, and 4 tarpflys on lines at each corner. The loops are to create space between the tarp and the stingers for the SnakeSkins.. I found that if I had to adjust the tarp after I had it opened up, the snakeskins would cover the stingers and made it very difficult to adjust.

They both work on the same principle and design. You can actually with a little modification use them exactly the same. While you can just clip on the stingerz all you need is a small key ring to attach the flyz to the tarp. and Viola you have exact setup with maybe a little weight savings.Or you could use them like Dangerous mentioned.

I actually prefer the Flyz instead of the stingerz. I bought the separate tarp lines with Flyz set from Dutch and love it. I larks head the fixed eye to the tarp d-ring, and slide the flyz all they way up against the d-ring. I leave them there 95% of the time. This gives you the ability to make the perfect "v" like Dejoha shows in his book. The Stingerz will do the exact same thing. The reason I prefer the flyz is that, if my hang distance is really far apart or my trees are big, I can slide the flys down the line and toward the tree. You give up the "v", but gain a bunch of distance. The stingerz are limited. If your end lines aren't long enough to go around your tree and get back to the tarp, you are stuck.

Only problem with the Dutch Flyz is that if you drop them you will have a very hard time finding them. I spray painted mine blue just in case I do drop one.

The stingerz are limited. If your end lines aren't long enough to go around your tree and get back to the tarp, you are stuck.

If i have that problem all i have to do is tie the line back to itself when i wrap around the tree. yea i lose to function of the stinger but that is only in a pinch. i try not to set up on trees that far apart it makes it much more difficult to hang my hammock and get a good lay.

So I use stingers on separate ridge tie outs like Brandon suggests, but was looking at mini line locs for the tie outs and then it dawned on me to use the Flys on tie outs and doors with would give me a mechanical leverage and not committed to a loop at the end of the tie out either! Thanks guys!9

I like stingerz for continuous ridgelines and if I am going to move them. I like flyz or 2 lines because I can use less line. If the trees are big or further apart i can move the flyz closer to the tree.
