thanks for the pix Knotty. i hadn't thought of making soft shackles w/o a bury. that looks like it would hold better than mine (with a full length bury). used as a prussic or klimheist on my tarp ridge line.

i made a couple last night from a 30" piece of Zing i had laying around(15"ea). the finished out at about 1.5",closed. that's smaller than i wanted but i was just messing around. i think i'll leave them "unbuttoned" and open the loop so i can larks head them onto the zipper pulls if my bb. then i'll have some multi function zip pulls if i need them.
gonna make a couple longer ones tonight to replace my masons line prussics in my tarp ridge line.
Would this design work for hammock suspension if made out of amsteel?

i'm believe they would. i use the bury style all the time. i can't see any reason the non-bury style should'nt bee just as strong.

Amsteel soft shackles for suspension? Absolutely!
Do a search for the original soft shackle/nacrabiner discussion.

Want to say this was super helpful and I now only use dynaglide softshackles for all major connection points in my suspension. I weight about 220 and have never had an issue. I also just use an overhand knot for the stopper.
