Unless I've been stupid with grub and drink, it can be like a dead rock for up to 10 hours .. except for 1 or 2 pee breaks.
The surest way to toss about is to resist a pee break.

"There's no accounting for other people's taste in love, fiction and huntin' dogs." ---Mark Twain
I wake easily but I don't move much when sleeping.
With alcohol I get very little rest and wake up stiff and sore.
With a calm mind and a tired body, I sleep well; i.e., get lots of exercise and don't worry!
If I drink no whiskey, I sleep like a fossil.
I don't usually sleep like a fossil.
Generally when in the hammock i'm fairly still but not always.

Mine depends on if I've done a lot of hiking or not. If I'm dead tired from hiking then I sleep like a rock. If I'm camping with others I sleep better. If I'm by myself I don't sleep as soundly. I don't really move around that much; comfortable in my Blackbird.

If I have hiked or paddled hard during the day, I sleep like a rock. If I have been sitting around camp all day, not as sound. I also take calcium supplements with my evening meal, helps to calm restless muscles. I do well with 6-7 hours of good sleep. 8 or more I am grumpy. I am almost always the first to arise in camp. At home I often arise between 4 and 5 am.
Morning java is most welcome.
Sag has a whole lot to do with my comfort level. My Claytor JH is somewhat narrow, so too tight and I get lots of shoulder squeeze. Paying close attention to sag and my hike has a whole lot to do with my comfort level and resultant sleep.
“Isn't it enough to see that a garden is beautiful without having to believe that there are fairies at the bottom of it too?”
― Douglas Adams, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
I sleep like a rock in my hammock always wake up in the same position I fall asleep in, am a tosser and turner in bed and cant fall asleep in a tent.
Sometimes I like to hike and think, And sometimes I just like to hike.
Hiking is'ent about waiting for the storm to pass its about learning to hike in the rain.
I too had a lot of trouble sleeping soundly. I tossed and turned quite a bit in my sleep. Turns out that I started to develop sleep hypopnea(like Apnea, but instead of stopping breathing, you just breathe too shallowly.).
You may be having the same problem. Some Afrin before bed, and a breathe right nasal strip fixed the problem almost 100% for me, now I sleep like the dead. A fairly cheap solution to my problem, maybe it will help you!
I have a couple friends who will take a small amount of melatonin to help them with sleeping. Supposedly it's better than alcohol because it occurs naturally in the body and does not prevent/interrupt REM sleep. I've heard that it can be powerful stuff and make you sleep longer than you want to, so start smaller than the recommended dose and work your way up.

Earplugs are key for me. If i can block out all that other noise, listen to my breath (which is unavoidable with earplugs), it begins to sound like ocean waves, in and out, then im gone. Without the plugs i listen to every noise in the wild, and that can ruin a hike, no sleep = bad hiking. WHen im in the woods im on a natrual cycle...i wakeup at sunup, the light just wakes me up(usualy 5:30-6am), after that im up and ready.
The biggest issue i have is getting my neck comfy, i have neck injuries from judo/jiu jitsu, bone injuries, so i have to get in just the right position to alleviate the pressure. Once i do im gone. Then im free to roll where ever i want at night cause obvioiusly i can't feel it. That doesn't stop me from waking up with a cricked neck though! =) Ususally if that happens i've eaten rather unhealthy food that day though, thats a trend i've noticed.
