no problem, I thought your statement was clear. The poster whose comment I quoted hadn't understood that though, so I thought I would just run the numbers.

A lightweight bridge hammock is very much on my mind these days....and in that obsession I am hyper-sensitive to total system weight. So this just jumped out at me.

I looked at a lot of design plans for a bridge hammock... some of them were yours. I plan to make one to enjoy (I've only read and heard great things about their comfort), but as you allude to, the knock is that they're heavy. A lightweight bridge could be a real game changer.

Sounds like a genuine skunkworks project to me! Interested to see what you come up with! (can feel the wallet getting lighter already)

I, too, look forward to see what Griz comes up with. His videos, tutorials, plans and more have helped so many hammock campers out there (including this one) that it's ridiculous.

I understood the weights. I have a lot of hammock and use the same straps/toggles so I didnt add them in the weights.

Got it. I reuse suspensions also. Can add a lot of weight, depending on what is used. A challenge to minimize that too.

But all the Dutch trinkets up and down the suspension make every hang look like Mardi Gras!

And they make everything soooo convenient at very little cost in weight.

Yeah. I use a 5ft & 6ft 1" strap and BIAS carbon toggles that weighs in at 2.7oz. I might could get by with 4ft & 5ft but dont want to chance it.

very nice at 6 oz but with a weight limit of 225# it leaves us heavier hammocks out.

I weigh 230 and have spent a lot of time in the WWM. And let's be honest... does anyone really understand the science of weight limits? I sure as heII don't. At some point, any hammock will wear out. I guess I try to be conservative with weight limits. I don't want a guy, say 230 (like me) adding an underquilt, a ridgeline, a lantern, a sleeping bag, a couple of books, a full set of clothes, a laptop computer, a set of 50 lb. dumbbells, a motorcycle and a mid-weight barnyard animal (think goat or burro) and a sharp machete blade down on the fabric to the mix and saying "this thing broke on me."
