Don't forget to put your foot-end about 6" higher than the head end. I find that makes all the difference. In some cases I found that while laying diagonally if i shift my butt to the foot side just a bit fixes the calf pressure issue. So does a piece of pad in my top quilt under my feet.

I spent last night in my new DIY DL hammock with foot box. When I first set it up I didnt have a calf ridge but I did last night. I will have to try some of the suggestions here and see what I can figure out. Thanks everyone. I love this forum

Yeah I started off well then had issues. Solved them with everyone's help, then issues again. I just now woke up from an 8hr test in my yard...solid, comfortable sleep! It's just a matter of tweaking your setup and not trying to ignore any problems/discomfort.I spent last night in my new DIY DL hammock with foot box. I only had a couple minutes before I had to tear everything down but just a little tweak on the height of the foot vs. head and checking the angle seemed to fix everything. I think my issues arose from trying to make sure I could hang two hammocks from one set of trees so I had to try and get everything set so my son would have a good nights sleep (which he said he did).
I have an adjustable ridge line so once I get that dialed in everything should be good.
I really like having the shelf. I always had a ridge line organizer but I like not having anything hanging in front of my face, and outside of bug season I have the bug net tied up to the ridge line to keep it out of the way.
