    Kelty Noah 9 vs. Claytor Diamond Tarps.

    I just wanted to show the difference between sizes of the Kelty Noah 9 and the Claytor Diamond Tarp.

    I know that they are not pitched EXACTLY right to eachother, But close enough to get an idea of the difference. They both feel like they are made out of the same stuff, but the Kelty Noah 9 is a little bigger.

    And that is a WBBB Under those tarps! Belongs to my friend Micah.

    Thanks for the illustration! I was debating between these two for a long while and finally decided on the Kelty. For roughly the same cost/weight, the Kelty looked a bit more versatile for me. If I hadn't decided before this morning when I ordered my Kelty from Sunny Sports, this would have put me over the edge for sure.

    Edit: Looks like I purchased the last one. $50.95 shipped seemed like the best deal online for one of these.

    Kelty has more tie outs also, if it came in camo it would be a slam dunk.

    I have been using a Noahs 12 for some time now. I have a few pics in my gallery. I little on the heavy side (2lbs) but I can cover 2 hammocks with it if we're (my son and I) set up in a V. I can also manipulate it into a tarp tent as it has a total of 16 tie-out points. This tarp is overkill when its just me on the trail but I love it and have seen no reason to buy another tarp yet. I have been impressed with the quality of the Kelty tarps.

    Size can work both ways. (no pun intended here) I prefer the smaller option in the heat of summer. I like the air moving around me as much as possible.

    Cool pics. Where were they taken at? I thought at first maybe Congaree, but after looking more at them, thinking maybe not. what are some of the local spots near Columbia SC where you can hang hammocks?

    Got my Kelty Noah's 9 in the mail last week. Unboxed it and it had a leaf in it! I checked it thouroughly and I didn't see any defects, so I'm hoping it wasn't returned faulty. I will hopefully be able to set it up this coming weekend. I'll be sure to post pics.

    I busted out the measuring tape tonight.

    Ridgeline from outmost edge of each tieout = 170.5"
    Perpendicular to Ridgeline (Kelty to Kelty side logos) = 172.5" (give or take 2 inches for late night error)
    Measurement along side seam from point to next adjacent point (from corner, not tieout) - 123"

    Since I was not able to pitch the tarp to see distance from point to point without taking cat cut into effect, here's some napkin math:

    Using a*a + b*b = c*c
    85.25*85.25 (half ridgeline) + 86.25*86.25 (half perpendicular ridgeline) = c*c (hypotenuse of triangle formed from tip of tieout to tip of next adjacent tieout while pitched)

    7267.5625 + 7439.0625 = c*c
    14706.625 = c*c
    121.27087449177564 = c

    It's roughly 121" from tip of tieout to tip of tieout on adjacent corners while pitched.

    (While I hope the math was right, the measurements might have been slightly off, so use as a guideline)
