    Trip report: BWCA May 2011

Just arrived home yesterday from a week in the BWCA. Tons of black flies, a fair bit of rain and heavy winds, poor fishing, and we slept on the ground. Despite the way it might sound, we had an excellent trip, full of laughter, good food and the makings of many fine memories.

I wrote up a bit on our blog. And here's a direct link to our Picasa photolog.

    Here's a teaser pic:

Fantastic trip! Great pictures ... and with a lady that cute ... can forgive ya for going to ground! Thanks for sharing the adventure.

Some pretty nice looking fish even if the fishing wasn't as good as the black fly bites!

Nice report and pics! I was just on Burnt lake last week. I pretty much experienced the same trip as far as weather, fishing and bugs. Wasn't sleeping on the ground though

Yes, my Beautiful is worth it. The exped pads make the ground a bit more bearable though I still get some hip and back soreness. Gotta get back to figuring out a double bridge...

Thanks. We had a great time. Funny how much we laugh together and at each other.

Hey O&B, don't you have an impromptu BWCA trip coming up?

I like Burnt lake. We've stayed on the South facing point campsite nearest to the Flame portage. Nice views. We've stayed on Burnt, Flame and Smoke during two prior trips.

You might not have been sleeping on the ground, but I wasn't sleeping alone!

I just got back from the BDub myself. The weather was definitely marginal at times. Didn't have as many flies though, probably because we were right up on the Canadian border, a little cooler still?

Glad you had a great trip!
