You could always carry a large bag (ziplock,sil-nyl,whatever) and stuff it with native materials; then put this bag into the hammock under the knees/calves/feet. The bag would probably weigh 2oz at the most? I'm thinking about the smallest NeoAir for this application-your thoughts? The NeoAir seat is 10x20 and 2.5ounce....ideally the pad (if you carry one for the feet/calves would do double duty as also be a sit pad during the day...I don't think I'd really use the NeoAir Seat as a sit pad-they just seem too fragil for this on the trail...
ooops forgot to point out the advantage of the NeoAir Seat-packability..it will pack down to nothing compared to a CCF pad which will take up pack room.

Check out the Garlington Insulator. Same idea, but with a trash bag and a crumpled-up space blanket. More Leave No Trace-compatible than the native materials gig.

Technically, yes. However, if you redistribute them the next morning before packing out it is considered a wash. Kind of like buying carbon credits.

Well, you did move them from their original positions, but at least you didn't dig a trench for your tent, leave a huge scorch mark from a bonfire etc etc.

It's not as LNT as not touching it, but I wouldn't class that as a "violation of LNT"

As long as you aren't leaving a trace, it's cool. (IANALNTE (I am not a LNT expert.)

I purchased one of mikeinfhaz's te-wa underquilts recently. I haven't had a chance to use it yet, but for those of you interested in such things here are the specs:

Size is 51 x 39 inches (130 x 99 cm) with 4+ inches (10 cm) of loft. Wt is 14 oz (397 g), differential cut to reduce compression of down, with longitudinal baffles to decrease shifting of down. Comes with suspension system and generous stuff sack. Beautiful work.

Unfortunately I have moved back to Texas from Oregon and our average temps are in the 90+ F (32+ C), so not exactly UQ weather.

The hardcore LNT folks are kind of 'out there'. If you are disturbing something, you are leaving a trace. There are those that pack out their poop in lieu of digging a cathole. I think that's crossing one too many lines.

What about this silly thing called Neat Sheet? Anyone familiar with it? what about cutting it to size and attaching ala UQ?

Or if using a blackbird, would the sheet (or other material) just fit into that pocket area below?

you could get something like a ns in the pad pocket, but will be a PITA as it will want to bunch. you could consider 1/8" ccf in the pad pocket though. a piecs that size would fold up pretty small
