Thumbs up Sale at Jo Ann's

I just realized it would be prudent to put a thread on here to tell you about the sale going on at Jo Ann's fabric. Many things are 50% off, and one cut of any regular priced fabric can be had for 50% off at any length. So, that means $3.50/yd. 60" wide ripstop in vibrant kelly green, blue, red, yellow, gray, and black for me! The sale lasts until Saturday June 21st.

Thanks to FishinFinn for the info in the Silk hammock thread! I wanted to make sure everyone saw this!

I just picked up some silk from the bargain bin at JoAnn's Frenzy sale - everything is 50% off, going on this week only june 16-21. I purchased 14 yds, which was originally $39.99/yd, marked down to $6/yd, for which I paid $3/yd. I'll post pics when I get home from work today.

    STEAL!

I wonder if the sale also includes thread? It would be nice to pick up some Gutterman's in different colors.

    Yepers!!...that means yes, btw...

Does anyone know offhand the weight of the ripstop nylon at JoAnn's?

The sales represenatives were really rude to me on the phone when I tried to find out the weight. Then when I asked about the manufacuturer, that just set them off! I told them, "Thank you for your help! Have a great day..."

Also, if someone has experience with the "silky prints" that are 100% polyester, do you think they are suitable for hammock bodies. Some really funky colors there, and at 60% off, they are $4/yd.

Most of the stuff I have seen at JA is 1.9oz.

I have found the semi-local JoAnn's to be less than helpful and not entirely polite or knowledgable about their products. I was somewhat taken to task for attempting to "undrape" a bolt of cloth to find out what the price and contents were. Then when I said I didn't want it... well....

But the Simplicity patterns were two for $3 which made the wife drool.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.

The ripstop I have seen is 1.9, but it's nice stuff and at %50 of 6.99/yd, that makes it $3.50/yd!

Mentioned this in another thread as well. They have some stuff at JoAnn's called Warm Windows that might be worth looking at for a quick DIY UQ. Similar to the specs on this:
    http://http://www.cozycurtains.com/w...ow_system.html

At 50% off, it would be a real cheap option for sewing challenged folk. Cut, sew a quick edge and maybe a cord channel, and off you go.

The folks I talked to on the phone were customer service people from the 1-888 number, so I would assume the national help center. Super rude! Oh well!...

I am going to score that ripstop! I will weigh it after I buy it to find out what it is! Thanks!

    Warm Window Insulation

OK, this is the correct site for the stuff they sell at JoAnns.

    http://www.warmcompany.com/wwpage.html

It's called Warm Window Insulated Shade system. It's made by the Warm Company, which makes insul~bright. It has a layer of insul~bright in the sandwiched layers. It's pretty cool stuff, and is almost exactly what I did for my DIY sandwich UQ. Read the specs if you are interested in insul~bright quilts or doing a quilt with very little sewing.

    The four layer insulated fabric
    A Warm & Dry™ moisture resistant lining
B High density needled hollow fibers
    C Reflective polyethylene vapor barrier
    D Metallicized Mylar® with needled
    air-trapping polyester fibers

I haven't had any issues with customer service. A smile and a wink and all the old ladies are butter in my hands, or helpful at least.
