    WBBB First hang

Well I got my Blackbird friday and I just couldn't resist sleeping in it that very night!

It was about 40f, so i thought it was a great time to test the ole' hammock out. I was using a JacksRbetter torso pad which worked very well. The only problem I had was my feet were freeeeeeeeeeezing. I think I'll get an underquilt and cut the torso pad down to a smaller size and use it to insulate my feet. Literally, I woke up in the middle of the night and they were numb. Overall, it was the best sleep i've ever had outdoors. I was a tenter (Tarptent contral), had a tough time getting any sleep. The hammock was **** near more comfortable than my bed, very happy with that. I can't wait to test it out in the piney woods as shug would say.

here are some setup pictures.. be easy on the noob, this was the first hammock i've ever setup. I was also using my Marmot Hydrogen sleeping bag as a top quilt (unzipped). You might notice my angles might not look right. I was in a hurry setting this puppy up, i did readjust the hammock in the middle of the night. That was about the time I found my sweet spot :]

I don't see anything wrong with your angles, it looks perfectly fine to me, and I don't subscribe to the "right" way - just as long as you are happy, and comfy with it. You say you found the sweet spot, for you, and I believe that's all that matters. So congratulations on a successful first hang Phobos.

Thanks for the kind words, I read extensively on this forum before purchasing and haggled a fellow member to death (wags). My wife hates him because he talks me into buying all this gear! I am glad he did, I can't believe I ever slept in a tent before ( not that there is anything wrong with it!) To each his own :]

***EDIT*** I also have to give a lot of credit to Shug. I watched all of your videos for noobs, even the ones that had nothing to do with Hangin'. You're quite the character and i THOROUGHLY enjoy your youtube channel, dont change anything! If you're ever doing a show down in Georgia do tell! I'll be sure to attend!

Your angles look a lot like mine over the weekend. I didn't have the room or bother with re-adjusting in the middle of the night so I left it as-was. Good job on the sweet spot. I wish I found mine. Next trip

I have the exact same hammock and tarp set-up. If your sleep was good (other than the feed) then don't change a thing. If you had said nothing else I would say that your angle might be too steep. Maybe something to play with when you have some time, particularly on the right side in the first two photos. Have fun and congrats on your first hang.

might play with hanging the foot end a good bit higher than the head end, but it's whatever works for you

Yeah, that was the adjustment I made in the middle of the night, I kept sliding down. As soon as I moved the feet higher it was perfect, I just didn't have pictures of that adjustment since it was in the middle of the night :]
