Happycamaper, missed you and Sam on this one. Yeah the Sherpa is proving it's worth but on a post trip inspection found the front tire was flat. If it happened on the trail it didn't seem to make any difference. This was the first long distance hike and some of what it went thru was amazing. Started out with over 12 liters of water plus gear. The worst was the hog rooted areas and the cypress knees but then it had a hardheaded jack@$$ behind it. Got all summer to mod it out for next season. See ya'll then.

Well, I've spent the last three hours trying to get my camera to turn on. I think I'm going to have to take it over to the local repair place, but I do have the photos from my cell phone. Most of them are from the ride in rather than the hang, unfortunately.

The foggy morning, out on SR 121, headed towards Williston through farm country:

The fog quickly burned off, though:

A pair of photos taken from a river crossing in Dunnellon:

A quick stop at a phosphate mining site along the Withalacoche State Trail:

The actual phosphate pit--it drops maybe sixty or seventy feet in thirty horizontally:

The old girl loaded up with my DIY pack in "bike mode":

There was an actual pink elephant along the way :

Right across from a bunch of bottle trees:

    More to come...

    More Photos

A pair of panorama photos taken on a bridge in Inverness:

A panorama of the trail once it leaves Inverness and heads south towards Floral City:

    Another water crossing:

A pair of photos of the fire tower parking lot (it was really beautiful):

I hope to get the photos off of my camera as soon as possible...

Thanks! It sure is beautiful to bike along back there. Wish more of the roads down here had decent bike lanes...

Y'all are writing up a mighty fine trip report. Nice pictures of the area. FLrider, you kill me, you rode a crusier 100+ miles! All I can say is I bow down to you! Grinder, I am finding out, you're a pretty tough guy and lucky too! Old Dog, you da man! Sorry to hear how dry it was, but thats Florida when we don't get the rain. Plus side is that y'all aint' complaining bout them skeeters too much. Really hated I had to miss this outing. As Hangnyak said it best, you all are a fine bunch of people to be around!

The skeeters were practically non-existent. I didn't use any sort of bug juice all weekend and only very occasionally heard a buzzing but no landings.
