“Light thinks it travels faster than anything but it is wrong. No matter how fast light travels, it finds the darkness has always got there first, and is waiting for it." -Terry Pratchett
Speaking of hammock parties, did you ever find those girls with frikkin' lasers on their heads?
“Republics are created by the virtue, public spirit, and intelligence of the citizens. They fall when the wise are banished from the public councils because they dare to be honest, and the profligate are rewarded because they flatter the people, in order to betray them.” ~Judge Joseph Story

IMPOSSIBLE JUST TAKES LONGER
I got my Blackbird today
Of course i had to rigg it up and try it out.
Boy is it roomy, i almost felt lost in it.
But then, I'm a small guy
Since the temp is only 40 F, my bum was starting to get cold after awhile
and then it hit me, how the heck i'm gonna attach my 1/2 down UQ to this
hammock, its huge!
Since it so huge , i'm not sure where i end up sleeping.
And a pad is way to narrow.
I might have to get a full length UQ.
*Moski glances at jacksrbetter and counts his $$$*
Anyway, the blackbird is so comfy, i think i can sleep on my side without any problem.
The workmanship seems excellent.
I think i never will regret this buy
Thanks, for this awsome hammock Brandon!
My Warbonnet should be arriving later this week. I'm really excited to check it out.
Since you say it's too big for a single pad - I wonder if there's enough space for two pads side by side. Bulky for backpacking, but fine for car camping
I'm going to try rigging an UQ out of an old 40 degree synthetic bag from target, plus using either a thermarest or cheap blue foam pad, and sleeping in my 15 degree synthetic bag. Hopefully all of that extra insulation will keep me warm into the high-thirties this weekend.
I tried to add wings to the original pad and i think that would work.
Just have to repair my prolite , it leaks
But i think the best way to go is UQ.
My UQ is only a 1/2 down one and it works great on my Clark and Claytor.
But since it so much more fabric on the Blackbird , im not sure where it should be
So i have a feeling a full length UQ will be ordered pretty soon

any uq or pad needs to be large enough to cover your body, 40" wide is plenty, you just have to put the pad in the right spot so you're laying on it properly. the same is true for a uq, figure out where you lay and put it there. neither a uq nor a pad need to be bigger just because the hammock is, afterall, you're still the same size.
