    Warbonnet w/UQ question

I've got a 40* Hammock Gear Phoenix that I attempted to use with my new WBBB this weekend. In short, I failed miserably. I had trouble eliminating gaps when I (or my buddy) would lay in it. I had a long cold night (~38*) with terrible CBS. Any thoughts or success stories with a Phoenix on a WBBB?
BTW, I've used the UQ successfully on my Wilderness Logics Lite Owl and Eno SN, so i've got some idea of what I'm doing.

Shug recently reminded me he made a great video about fitting UQs onto Blackbirds.

I watched it again and it helped mucho!

+1. That's probably the best single source.

In short, it will work. But, I've found that fine-tuning an UQ with a gathered-end hammock is just part of life. Try it out by tightening up the suspension a bit. Or, if it's too tight, try loosening it. You may also want to try dutch quilt clips or other similar items to help connect the quilt to the hammock when needed. Personally, I take the ribbon near the footbox that's intended to help tie away the netting when not in use and tie it to the UQ to keep it in place.

Lots of fiddling required, but you'll get there. There's only one PERFECT fit between UQ and hammock, in my opinion. That's the Warbonnet Ridgerunner and the Lynx.

Only issue I have using a Pheonix on my BB is the UQ suspension going under the footbox.
I added a mitten hook to the foot end suspension...give it a half twist and hook the other side over hammock ridgeline. Mimics a triangle thingy and keeps suspension overtop the footbox.

I'd love to see pics of these.. I'm a visual person & can't picture some of the suspension ideas on UQ's. I have watched the Shug video & that helps to a point.

Really crank up that suspension, man. It should hold your hammock up with you're outside of it. If there is a draft cinch on the end of the UQ, loosen whatever side your feet lay towards, it will help create a platform you're laying on and not bunching up and pushing the UQ away from your butt n legs. Again, tighten suspension, loosen leg-side draft cinch, if it has one.
