Smokies Fly Fishing November 2011

Sure wish I could do this. Just got my first fly rod, though, and I'd probably kill somebody.

Hope you guys have a great trip. I will be just one or two ridges to your west from Nov 4th-8th. My buddies and I are heading down for our annual backpacking trip. Were starting at Clingman's and looping down Forney Ridge, Welch Ridge, through the road to nowhere and then back up along Noland Creek and Noland Divide. With all the double backs and side loops it will be about 55 miles total.

I have often thought about planning in a rest day on one of my smokies bp trips to dip a pole. Sounds like fun to me, though I would probably have to bring my sons spiderman rod and spinners..... never done the fly fishing.

Sounds like you'll be pretty darned close once you hit Noland Divide. We'll be there if you want to visit.

I would love to, but we wont be on Noland Creek/Divide until Tuesday and all that would be left of the group hang would be fish bones and a curious campsite with lots of bootprints but very few tent shaped holes in the vegetation.

To be safe, I always leave any fish bones under someone else hammock when in bear country.
