I have ordered nilon snaps with the intent to put them on my underquilt so I can snap the underquilt into place. It should add very little weight. even reduce the weight if I can remove the shock sord. Anyone ever try this? Any opinions as to weather it will work?
You might find that some sort of elastic (like the shock cord) works better, b/c it allows the quilt to adjust to your body as you move around in the hammock. It's hard to say if your project will work better than the shock cord or not, though...can't see exactly what you have in mind! Be sure to post pics...I'm sure we can all learn from what you have in mind.

Interesting idea. I'd be interested in seeing how it works. The one thing I'd worry about is how you could adjust it to 'loosen' the quilt to regulate the temp.

Hum interesting ideah and innovative, I look forward to seeing pictures and hearing a field report. The only problem I could invision is that yes it could reduce draft but then it also sorta could prevent you from venting if it gets to hot. Id also wonder about the ease of snapping it to the hammock once the hammock is hung. I know for me just looping the elastic cord around the gathered ends of my hammock is very easy. None the less it seems like a really cool concept and look forward to hearing how it turns out.

You may want to look up the temp rating on the nylon snaps. Depending on how cold you are camping, they could get brittle and break when snapping/unsnapping.
