    Retailers Take Note!

I am new to hammock camping. I spent weeks scouring this site taking it all in and coming up with my selections. I used 4 different retailers recommended by these forums to make my purchases. If i had not joined this forum I would have never heard of 3 of these retailers. You might want to consider offering members of this forum discounts!

Given the prices many of the cottage vendors charge.... I think they already do.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.

I'd rather they use the money to develop new gizmos and gadgets, for which I'll send them even more of my money.

The real message I wanted to get across, is that noobs are definitely taking the advice and using the suggested retailers. I mean any old boob can go to Academy or Walmart and buy a hammock. There is some power in the forums suggestions!

Thanks for the products I purchased especially Wilderness Logics and Whoopie Slings. I used the big one for the webbing and rings REI, but that was mainly for the dividends.

    You guys are awesome!

I doubt that the cottage industry retailers

are becoming filthy rich in their businesses! Look at the owners: They are outdoors folk, most of them probably had an "Ah Hah!" moment while hiking and acted on that idea with a sewing machine.

I have dealt with Hammock Gear, Jacks R Better, and 2QZQ and I believe that most of these folks periodically have sales or specials. Be patient, and good things will come around.

And If you need it NOW, these folks will bend over backwards to accommodate you. You will not see that level of customer service in a big box outdoor store.

Wesswank,,hang around on the forum long enough and you will find the cottage makers here, at various times of the year,,have excellent sales happening with discounts all the time. Everybody here tries and support them regardless of the fact they do have sales and sometimes offer discounts. Keep your finger on the keyboard!

    I could have written this.

I buy a lot of stuff on-line, but I haven't found anyone that can match the great majority of these guys for service. We are very fortunate to have them.

+1 on what swampfox said. These guys are the cream of the crop. I've only dealt with a few of the vendors here and it has always been a pleasure. Cottage vendors may have longer waits for products or some higher prices then most major vendors, but I think most here will agree. That its worth every penny ( even if we have to pinch every penny to buy them ).
Life looks better from a BIAS hammock.

You do have to look especially for these types of vendors but go almost anywhere that specializes in light weight comfortable outdoor hiking and you find these people and people who are interested. Unfortunately these people don't have machines of massive sweat shops making their gear then charging well over the quality you are getting in price.

Personally I would rather pay the high price for the expensive quality stuff while in the woods than stuff that is likely to fail at the worst time.
