We've had dogs at several hangouts. As long as they're not jumping on people or eating their food, you'll probably have to stop folks from giving your dogs too many treats.

As long as their legs are long enough to keep them above the snow...ahem, MM...

He's in a dog wheelchair now - he'd REALLY have issues with the snow

Unless I am reading it wrong I just looked and it appears that the Kelly Dahl Area Status is: Closed. I was at Golden Gate Canyon - Reverend's Ridge area last fall. It had a lot of space to hang there. I believe we were in LOOP J. It is close to the latrines for those that expressed interest in them. Dogs are fine by me.

Were reservations required up front? If kelly dahl is closed, I'm thinking Reverend Ridge would be a good alternative, and we might want to make reservations ASAP.

It was after the first snow hit up there so it was a ghost town. We made reservations when we rolled in.

I just got off the phone with Reverend Ridge, and they are not taking reservations, but look like they should have tent sites open the weekend of Oct 5th, and as long as a couple of us tried to get there reasonably early on Friday, we should be able to lock down three consecutive campsites.

Since this is inside Golden Gate Canyon State Park, there would be a vehicle fee in addition to camping fees, but I personally don't mind that at all.

If anyone is interested in another campsite and wants to give them a call to find out availability, please do it soon, so we can make a decision ASAP.

Reverend Ridge sounds great to me too. Kelly Dahl is good also. These would be my first and second choice, I think.

I'm thinking I would be able to be there earlier on Friday too so I could also get a site. Once we have a better idea of how many people will be coming there is a maximum of 6 people per site.Would anyone from the Aurora/ Denver area be interested in carpooling with me?

Pretty sure Kelly Dahl was closed last time we went. I think Grant called and they said it was fine as long as we didn't expect any services, plowing, etc. I was surprised the privy was open. But...they might still let us camp there, so that just means less of a crowd to deal with.
