I think that works, to a point.
More likely, you just get used to your own stink. Spend some time around long-distance hikers and you'll soon discover there is little to no naturalization of BO. It's been 6 years since I came off the AT and every now and again, I think I get a hint of leftover BO that still hasn't gone away. It was a full 3 weeks before people in line behind me stopped making that sniffing sound as they were trying to figure out what stank so bad. I kind of miss that.
