Definitely hamik,
stress on the first syllable,
and the second vowel is just a nothing of a sound, barely even a "schwa" (i.e.the unstressed sound like the "a" of "about").
It's almost hamk.

Tomato, tomato...hey wait that doesn’t make any sense now that I typed it out.
I say ham-ick, and my father says ham-hock ( and laughs every time).

I say Ha-mick
Ham-ick ... because it's simple, smooth and easy ... but according to the dictionary types ... I "be wrong"

It's "Ham-mick".
What do those folks at Websters know anyway? (They probably sleep in tents, when they go "hike-in" and "camp-in"). And let's not even get started on the fact that there's actually only one "p" in "Punk-in".

I say Ham-mik most of the time. It fluctuates with my mood i guess. I do make the double m sound though. I don't mind leaving off a letter at the end of the word (hike-in) but please don't leave out the 'L' in wolf... it drives me nuts.
I have decided this is how it kinda sounds when I say it...Haam-ock, once again being from the south I'm sure what i think it sounds like and what it actually sounds like is completely different. Around here a gud ole suthen gentelmaan, has no need for tha letta "r" in most words.... and lots of long aaaaa's.
