Most of us end up poorer here but richer for being here. Olddog, Fulltime hammocker, 365 nights a year.
Went and picked all of the materials today. I plan on spending about an hour a day after work each day until it's done. Spent more than i'd like to admit for everything needed, but i also added some hardware to help make setup easier or quicker. I started by mis-cutting my first post, so i'll need to get another one. My saw doesn't cut past 45*, maybe i'll get home depot to cut them for me? What angle are "we" using for the top of the posts?
I used 70* off a straight cut (20* on the 2x2). The saw I used didn't cut past 45 either, so I cut a jig out of a 2x4 at a 45* angle and clamped that into place to use while I cut the top angles the first 4 (so it was set to 25*), reset the saw to a 5* cut (50* angle before the jig (40* on the 2x2), and cut the two end posts.
I hope that makes sense. If not, let me know and I'll try to come up with something to better explain it.
