Ok, I started trying to thread my new sewing machine and all was going well until I reached the needle where I realized that I am obviously missing a critical part. The thread guide at the needle is missing. (im apparently also missing the "cutter" but im not too worried about that) The thread guide apparently attaches to the needle bar just above the needle clamp thumb screw. There is a threaded hole there that goes straight through the needle bar. While I believe I have potentially found the part I need, I am still lacking a screw at this point but have plans to try to remedy that as well. This is the part from the manual and the part I purchased in the insert....ignore the fuzz, I haven't cleaned it yet
Now, I also replaced the needle that was in the machine with a new one and according to the manual I should insert the needle "as far into the needle hole as it will go." I inserted the needle until it stopped- mind you I did this before I realized the guide/screw was missing. So, in doing this the needle hole is somewhat tapered which caused the needle to sit crooked in the hole. I am ASSUMING this is because it was inserted too high in the groove, Im also ASSUMING that the screw that holds the thread guide in place is what would normally stop the needle and ensure it is inserted to the proper depth. Am I correct in assuming this? Here are a couple of pics of the needle bar where you can see the two holes, the lower one being where the screw for the needle clamp rests (more of a divot than a hole) and the top one being for the guide screw.
Hopefully the part i ordered will work and i can find a screw to fit as well. Otherwise I may need to resort to some JB Weld and a paper clip, ha ha. If I cant get this resolved I may be up that certain creek without the proverbial paddle. Whatcha think?

I really do think that the thread quide screw, inserted into the needle bar is what the butt of the needle sits against to get the needle at the right depth. I see no other way. Just cant find a screw. I brought home some of the tiniest screws I can find, hundreds of them of all types and theyre all too big. Like you said, I can probably improvise something but Lord knows what at this point. If the screw IS indeed what sets the needle depth and I have to use something different it may throw the needle timing off with the hook which in case I guess I could merely adjust the needle bar a little. *Shrug*
