Tarps like suspension are due to preference. My dream tarp is either the arrowhead toxaway with middle pullouts or the warbonnet mamjamba. Probably the mamjamba because you can add on doors latter.

I felt the same way until I bought a HG Cuben. If the HHex was lighter and more packable at that price, I'd still be using it.

I will for sure. Unnecessary gear is the best kind of gear. I'm pretty sure this tarp covers more square feet then my first apartment!

I'm with OP on this one, the HH Hex tarp is a great tarp and I find myself using it in favour of my more expensive silnylon tarp (the Siltarp II). I paid $20 for my hex tarp as an upgrade from the stock HH tarp, and they also threw in their standard tarp with it. So I have 3 options when it comes to tarps, and I always use the hex tarp because I love the design so much more.

For me the main selling feature is the pockets for hiding the cordage. This means the cordage stays tied on and doesn't get in the way when I pack the tarp up. It's such a simple feature that makes a world of difference for me. I also like the D rings that you can use for tensioning, it makes tying the tarp taught a snap, and even though I never end up using a true ridge line as a result I am always happy with the pitch of my tarp. Other than that the hex shape it perfect when you're in a hammock, just makes it a bit easier to get in and out from under the hammock.

The biggest down fall to this tarp is it's packed size. I've considered upgrading to silnylon just to save some pack space, but it's a steep price to pay for just that. I also contacted the guy at Outdoor Equipment Supplier (as I love their tarps) about custom ordering one with those pockets installed but he refused (so I wont be dealing with that company again). So for now I'll stick with my 70D hex.
