Coyote Brown Ripstop -- Awesome Deal

Oware doesn't get a lot of air time on this forum for some reason. Even though they carry fabric and tarps. I think it is because they are primarily focused on the ground dwellers with most of their product offerings.

Oware had a recent deal I couldn't pass up on its fabric. I noticed they have an awesome deal on their coyote brown 70d Ripstop nylon for $2-3 a yard, depending on how much you order.

I didn't know why it was so cheap, but for that price I couldn't pass it up. I was extremely pleased with what I received, it looks like awesome fabric with no flaws I could detect.

On top of what I ordered, he added a note that he added some extra, and by extra I mean a lot of extra, including multiple yards of other ripstop fabrics he had on hand. It was like winning the Christmas jackpot.

It is not ultralight fabric, but it is what I like for making single layer hammocks.

    Here is the product description:

Ripstop Nylon, 70 denier, Uncoated with a Durable Water Repellant Finish, 58" wide, Sold by the linear yard, Aprox weight 1.9 ounces per yard squared Coyote Brown

He has definitely won my future business. Time for me to get back to the sewing machine.....got lots and lots of hammocks to make.

I am not affiliated with Oware or David Olsen, just a very happy customer.

That is what I used also last week, but I didn't know if it was still working. That is great that it is still working. It makes the deal even sweeter.

The coyote is out of stock according to the link, but it looks like there's Ripstop nylon 1.1 DWR 30 denier shell fabric 70" in olive @ 8.00 /linear yard.

    DWR repellency?

One of the quilt-makers sometime in the last year had an issue with water repellency of coyote brown rip-stop. Whether from a bad batch or his/her difficulty or that of the supplier, in being sure it was just one batch, I don't recall. I do know that others have reported no problem with coyote brown.

I'm repeating that only so you know a great price may be associated with functional disappointment that may have no bearing on your use whatsoever.

I smile at green (1.1) ripstop with a faint black pinstripe pair used by one maker, at least, and for a long time. That pinstriping is, I believe, the defect of no functional significance which has that ripstop sell at a discount as "second". In a year of reading posts here, I've never read a negative about the workmanship, nor have I seen or perceived a shortcoming in that company's products.......which all include, unmentioned, the faintly imperfect ripstop.

Or, like they say in software, "not a bug.... a feature". I use the pinstripe to direct my eyes and hands to the ends.

Scott at DIYGearsupply.com has a good selection, and his 1.1 green ripstop 2nds is great stuff... it's $3.20/yd...

oh, and it does have the "stripes".. but it's hard to see them...

I just received my coyote brown ripstop from oware.

It shipped quickly and came priority mail.

I have not verified the amount of fabric sent yet to see if any "extra" was sent at all.

NOTE: THIS FABRIC HAS NO DWR AT ALL APPLIED. WATER DOES NOT BEAD ON IT AT ALL.

This is not a huge deal to me since I am just making some hammocks to gift to friends with it.

However, it is advertised as DWR, and it is not repellent at all.
This makes me hesitant to make another purchase from a shop that definitely knows the importance of this treatment to it's customers. Also, they should be aware of the absence of the DWR. I cannot be the first person to notice this "defect"

Thanks to the OP for sharing this sale with us.
