Great report and beautiful pictures. It makes me want to travel down from Denver to visit the area.
Great reminder on the importance of checking the quality of the trees we hang on, too. Just because one is (currently) upright doesn't mean it's the most stable.

Yes it got kinda overwhelming worrying about the trees all around us...
I think the real lesson is just exercise caution in high wind, anything could happen.

Oh yah, almost forgot one of my lessons learned on this trip:
Near freezing water takes more alcohol to boil....duh! So just preheat your water near your fire (if appropriate), and then put it on the alky stove....might even help the stove prime faster since the pot is warmer (pot directly on stove, no stand).
