Great report and beautiful pictures. It makes me want to travel down from Denver to visit the area.

Great reminder on the importance of checking the quality of the trees we hang on, too. Just because one is (currently) upright doesn't mean it's the most stable.

Really enjoyed reading your trip report. What a beautiful place!

And thanks for sharing those photos of the fallen trees. I usually remember to do the "shake test" on trees I hang from, but don't think to check ones around camp. So good lesson!

Yes it got kinda overwhelming worrying about the trees all around us...

I think the real lesson is just exercise caution in high wind, anything could happen.

    Finally got a Shug-hit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! w00t! Yessss!!!!

I did several whoo-buddys on the trail just for you....my BP partner was cracking up.

All of the inspiration here on HF helped me get out in the cold and enjoy it.

    Thanks Shug...

Oh yah, almost forgot one of my lessons learned on this trip:

Near freezing water takes more alcohol to boil....duh! So just preheat your water near your fire (if appropriate), and then put it on the alky stove....might even help the stove prime faster since the pot is warmer (pot directly on stove, no stand).
