Yes! That was good to see you out and get your thoughts......
I cannot use a top cover as I get way to much ice in cold weather.
Going with the less-is-more approach. I do like my weathershield in the extreme cold ... it boosts warmth and cuts wind. I tried the space blanket in my UQ but got some moisture on my hammock...though I was warm.

The tarp was nice and high so you could probably stand up under there...that's a great benefit to hammocking, IMO. No crouching to change clothes. If there were wind, it might get you a little warmer to hang it low and tight. Good thing you didn't have to deal with it...I bet just a slight wind would have made that -21F feel a little chilly...
    Thanks Jeff.
I should have started with setting the tarp very low for security. At -21*C (-5,8*F) it is impossibly to get a peg into the earth. When I took the tarp down the next day I could hardly get the pegs up because of freezing. Interestingly at -11*C (12,2*F) my lighters worked, but at -21*C they only gave of sparks. The Mini Atomic inside the Bush Buddy worked great at -21*C even with cold alcohol.

Oh man I love the warmth of the south, but we beggars can’t be choosy.

So true. That’s the real challenge.

Cold is fun. Yes, as long as your not cold. Though I did never get cold I could feel its dangers.

-21 C..I'm suprised your camera worked.
    Total weight of ULA Ohm and content = 10,288 kg / 362,898 520 54 ounce / 22,681 157 534 pound (without food and water)

    Total weight of Snugpak Response Pak = 1,924 kg / 67,867 102 791 ounce / 4,241 693 924 4 pound

My camera (Canon IXUS 800 IS) I carried in a pocket in my jacket so it would get some warmth from my body.

    Water brought was 4 litre = 4 kg / 141,095 847 8 ounce / 8,818 490 487 4 pound

    + food.

I see that you've bought all the coolest gear on the market!

Btw. are you a cold or warm sleeper? The Winter Incubator and Winter Burrow kept me warm at -15C and I feel that I could easily go even lower, without adding further quilts or insulation. But it varies from person to person I guess.

    Let's arrange a hang soon!

    /Wild
No I still only have half the gear I need.
Cold sleeper. I am always cold. Love the tropics.
    A hang. Soon. You bet.

Yes it was good to be out and I learned a lot. For instance not to use cheap plastic bottles to heat your hammock. Those I used did transform a bit from the heat.

The first picture below shows the content of the main compartment in the ULA Ohm back pack.

The second picture shows what I carried on the outside of the pack. Food was carried in the big mesh pocket.

Third and fourth pictures speaks for them self.

I carried 3 litre of water in 3 bottles that I had in a plastic bag.
2 x 0,5 litre was carried on the shoulder straps of the pack.

Thanks OutandBack. Yes I agree. But the finer details are still missing. A good water filter is on the wish list.
