UQ with stretch on the inside?

To eliminate air gaps, what about this: You cut the inside layer of the UQ to a pattern that will fit the hammock. Then you sew stretch webbing or straps or whatever that stretches, stretched out to length so that when relaxed it bunches up.

After that you sew the baffles on the outside of that and fill it to achieve loftiness.

This would make an UQ that fit your body like a pair of nylons, no?

Or is it just not worth all the extra effort?

sounds interesting. where would you put the elastic? If it is on the hem you can do the same thing with a channel and shock cord. I'm thinking more on the middle like with the baffles.

I was thinking sort of a criscross pattern, all over the inside layer. To truly make it cling to your body everywhere. Not too tightly, just enough to compress itself up against you.

Like, first you make a layer of stretch, on that you sew a layer of loft, which is bigger than the stretch layer, so you don't loose any loft when the inside layer stretches.

Maybe it's too heavy. Definately a PITA job, though.

    I thought the same thing.

Both the Speer Snug-fit UQ and JRB Mt Washinton Series UQ fit snug to the bottom.... Thus, there are no air pockets to be eliminated.
