It has a 1/2 HP 1725 rpm motor and a 3 1/2 inch motor pully.

That is why it is so fast.
They make a 2 inch motor pully, which I will try to find soon, it will cut the speed quite a bit.

The fellow bought it at auction, and had it 6 months, never used it. It came from an RV dealer that closed originally, and I don't think it got used very much.

Not much dirt underneath but a bunch of dried corn inside from the mice.

I cleaned and lubed it up, and after getting it threaded correctly, this thing is scary fast, gonna have to slow it down somehow.

Just the bit of try outs convinced me to wear the safety glasses. The leather was not even an issue

Over 90 stitches per second at full speed? Am I right about that? That seems...excessive. I think my math is wrong.

I honestly don't think I'd have the ability to use a machine that went that fast. I have trouble with twenty stitches a second.

Hope that your search for a smaller drive pulley works out well. Either way, the increase in power should make, well...anything...sewable. Impressive.

    Singer 237

Here is my Singer 237 that I inherited from my wife's Grandmother. Only used it once so far to attach a couple patched to a uniform. I have big plans for this old girl.

Here she is, just picked her up today from a retired fellow who restores old injectors. I can't believe how clean this thing is. He spent hours pulling parts, polishing, and replacing anything that could wear. Singer 503a with all the original cams and feet. Let the fun begin!

As Spiccoli says in Fast Times at Ridgemont High: "Hey, I know that dude!" I have the same machine. Lovely little workhorse.

I use a White 1588, has a whole bunch of hooha gadgets that I don't use but it'll lay a straight stitch without much hassle. Works on silnylon to web strap. Best of all it was free. One of these days I'll teach my wife to use it, since her mother gave it to me.

Well, I finally scored one. A freebie at that. Should be good enough to re-learn on. Now to the supply store. Need some needles. First project, tarp skins!!
