    I found Cheap Down!

well I stumbled onto this site: www.smartbargains.com and they have a king sized down comforter with 29 oz of 550 fp down. I realize that this isn't the best rated down, but 29 oz of it for.......*insert drumroll*..........$39 (shipped)

here is the link to the specific product: CLICK HERE

They also have other products that are super cheap and offer higher rated down, but I couldn't pass up the $39

The polyester one would work as is with a little creative cutting and sewing:

Don't know how much it weighsut at 101" x 86", you could easily make a 3 season quilt kit with just a few mods...

Curious here...what do you mean by 3 season quilt kit? Would doubling it over bring that insulation value up or would that compress the down on the bottom layer?

3 season for me, I got by on the AT in the 2nd week of October with a poncho liner as a TQ, 1 doubled fleece blanket as a UQ and a piece of reflectix in the pocket of my bmbh. Oh, and a THICK pair of wool socks. The wind blew pretty hard a couple of nights, rained ALL night twice and I know it got down to 39 once. I figure 15 oz of 550 below and 14 oz above would get me to the low thirties...

Checking at 9:45PM 11/7/11 it is saying 48.99 + 9.95 shipping, so you got a good deal at 39 shipped. I've got some IKEA quilts to "sacrifice" for the cause, so I'll pass at this price.
