    two hammocks, one tarp?

I am new to Hammock camping and I am looking for suggestions and or pics on the two hammock one tarp or multiple tarp set up. I have been researching and have pretty much decided on what hammock's to buy but still unsure how I can set them up for my wife and I and still be close. Not really interested in the Vertex type. Any help would be appreciated.

I use a Hennessey Hex tarp for this. When I camp with a kid, we tie both head ends to one tree, and the feet end to trees that are just a couple feed apart (or 2 sides of one big trunk!) The Hex tarp is plenty big enough to cover both of us, but at a shallow pitch. This means it doesn't shed water as well. It wouldn't hold up in a storm, but good enough for 1-season.

There is a good shot of a close tarp setup in Shug's last video series in the Linville Gorge. There is also a thread on the wedding tarp. From what I have seen your best bet is 3 trees in a triangle. I could also improvise some bushcraft setups with spreader bars but that might have consequences. ;-)

Just set any old tarp above this set up though I will suggest a larger tarp for better splash coverage for the bottom hanger.

Here's how me and my boys hang together. edit: forgot to mention that is a WBBB and a DIY hammock underneath a WB Big MamaJamba tarp. We now use the Hammock Gear cuben tarp and it still works great.

I've done this with my wife and we used the old man winter tarp from wilderness logics pretty successfully. I've also hung two hammocks like bunk beds (one on top of the other)....although this was with one of my kids, but I'm sure it could work with an adult too.

I spent an evening last weekend side by side with my daughter under a HH Hex. Didnt rain but we were fully covered anyway!
I just used some reasonable sized sticks that I whittled notches in the end as spreader bars. Biggest trick is to play with the distance and have the two of you far enough apart that you dont touch!

I had us too close together...my daughter has very restless legs...by 4 AM I had a very sore nose! LOL still a good night...her first in a hammock!

I've posted some example pics in the same topics before, it is possible, even with self made tarps etc.
