We wrapped our tree straps around the roof support timbers - there were small gaps where you could do that. Took a few tries to get the angles right. On our trip through the smokies last year we saw a guy using a hammock in the shelter as well but he was hanging about 8 - 10' off the ground and using the top ledge to get in and out
    see you on the trail,

    AT 501 Shelter Hang

Nice! I was just there Saturday, passing through with my Boy Scout troop. There is still snow all over, but its maybe an inch deep, at the deepest. We talked about hanging our hammocks in there, now I see that it is possible.

    Blackfoot,
Glad to see you and your son got some quality time together. I see Tinkr lists a cuben tarp. I hope he didn't get rid of that great looking DIY tarp.

He still has it, but the cuben tarp was an early gift from Santa. Great to hear from you, will you be coming to spring MAHHA this year?
    see you on the trail,

yeah, most likely I'll be there. I just won't officially sign up until closer to the actual date--the gods of work don't take kindly to open displays of optimism.
Look forward to seeing you there.
Your dinner at the fall hang inspired me to start dehydrating so I have a few BF5 meals I need to get through.

You are right they aren't comfortable and even worse every time someone rolls over they squeak - must be very noisy when the Thru Hikers come through PA
    see you on the trail,
