    Looks like Old Orchard has a bit of a lead, but all 3 have gotten votes. And alot of people are viewing, well, either that or one guy is REAL interested

    A recap of the good things about each site:

    Wise shelter;
    A great site, the traditional location for our hangout, close to the road, Mostly level & nice trail, 2 reliable water sources, a nice shelter - table & fire pit for socialization, on / near several trails for day hikes, Right on the AT.

    Old Orchard shelter;
    A great site, close to a road, trail crosses no streams, Ample parking, AMPLE hanging sites over a large area (It used to be a tree farm / orchard), on the AT & near several other trails for day hikes, reportedly reliable spring, nice privy, Right on the AT.

    Over Mountain shelter;
    Interesting shelter, semi historical (parts of a movie were supposed to be shot here), a lot of hanging sites, reportedly reliable spring, privy, lots of room in / around the shelter for socialization, a decent fire pit, a GREAT view from the shelter down to the valley below, compared to the others this shelter is HUGE, some side trails for day hikes.

    So, vote up yall.

    Decision time!!!

    DUE TO THE MINIMAL NUMBER OF VOTES / VOTERS, THIS POLL WILL CLOSE AS OF FRIDAY AM AT 0600!

    IF YOU HAVE A PREFERENCE, NOW IS YOUR LAST CHANCE TO VOTE.

    ALSO, FOR THE SAME REASON: THE DATE SELECTION POLL WILL CLOSE AT THAT TIME!

    Thanks for playing!

    Friday PM I'll post a "Who's coming & what is you bringing?" topic.

    Well said!
    I'm not truly involved anymore, so I withhold any further comment*, after all, in effect I don't really care. At this point I'm just a facilitator not a participant. I'm even willing to withdraw my Old Orchard vote, so 8 for Old Orchard to 5 for Wise as of a few seconds ago.

    Have fun guys, toast a marshmallow to me Saturday.

    chances are I may not be able to make it since I am planning on going to SoRuck (assuming this is the same weekend) but that won't stop me from voting for the place I had rather go. If I can't go so be in but I won't pull my vote.

    I'm struggling with the decision. I really like Wise, but if we can fit more people comfortably at Old Orchard that would be cool too. So the water source is really reliable at Old Orchard?

    I can't say from personal experience, but the guides all say the spring is reliable. When I was there it was flowing GREAT, but I was there ONE time, In June of 08.

    I've herd of times that the water was dried up at Old Orchard, but I'm waiting for a call back from a friend that used to work at the outfitter in Damascus & lived up there. He has spent a lot of time in Mt Rogers Rec Area.
    I too will something make and joy in it's making
