Thumbs up VIDEO: "Over The Tarp" Ridgeline Set Up

A tarp video for all you Tarpsters......
While on the Linville Gorge Hammock Hang I got to see a couple of "over the tarp ridgeline" set-ups inspired by Tee-Dee.
As a dinker ..I was curious as to the point..... it seems that the tarp is easily adjusted back and forth on the over-ridgeline and is simple to center over your hammock. Cool.

On this video I have sped up runs of taking it down and putting it up with snake-skins (tubes of fabric that the tarp slips into making an easy to control package) and trying out Tee-Dee's "reefing" idea. Using the principles that sailors use on their sails........
Both options work and you can see that.
Using my new Speer Winter Tarp on this video....
Got this tarp after eyeballing it on a couple of trips with fellow hammockers. Great tarp .. light and the price is excellent for a lot of coverage and set-up options.
I will do a video of this tarp in more detail soon!

As always .... thanks for your time watching. Remember ... I am no expert .... I just go out and do it and learn from my triumphs and failures. Whoooooo Buddy! Get me to the piney woods!

nicely done shug...thanks for the 'reefing' display
I do like the adjustability of the over ridgeline too
If you don't keep your tarp attached to the ridgeline, you would only need one ridgeline for all your different tarps...each would attach and the prusiks would adjust
    explained some things fo sure
oh yea, you can replace the S biner with a toggle (stick) if you don't want hardware

Very interesting. I like this method and very well may be putting it to use the next time I'm out. It's gotta be worth a whot, at least. Heck, If I don't like it, I can always go back to my current method. Many thanks to Shug for the video demonstration and to TeeDee whose idea this was in the first place. As a long time member here, TeeDee's creativity, innovation, forward thinking and DIY prowess never cease to not only amaze me, but teach me something on a pretty doggone regular basis. Thanks! I reckon this means I gotta order more Speer No-Tangle.

Agreed. Great video! I might just have to try this setup, too.

    Another good one Shug!

I was tinkering with reefing yesterday. I ended up tying a long line outside the prussic on one end and then reefing the tarp with a series of half hitches about
every 18 inches as I moved along. This worked well, but a reefing line from each end, or two from the middle may be a little easier to work with. It's kind of like sheepshanking a rope, only with the tarp.

Sorry, didn't get any photos, but I will soon if needed.

I goofed with a toggle ... of course .... just found the s-biner to be so easy. A stick would be just fine as well......

did you find the shock cord was better than a static (no stretch) cord for your prusiks? advantage?

I find myself surprised that you found that much daylight to film in at this time of year in Minnesoota.
